Little Man Sayings: "I just want to see what color she is."

This past weekend, we spent time in East Texas with my parents.  This was the conversation Little Man had with me and my mom (Nana) in the truck on the way to Wal-Mart.

Nana: "Little Man, what do you think is a good name for the baby?"

Little Man: "Sally."

Nana: "Oh, I like Sally, too!"

Me (in my head) "Um, no."

Little Man: "I just want to see what color she is!"

Insert record scratch....

Me: (trying to answer without laughing and NANA not helping the situation because she was practically chocking on her diet coke) "What?  Um, Little Man, she is probably going to be light skinned like mommy, or maybe a little darker like daddy.  But she will look like us."

Little Man: "NO, MAWM, not her skin.  Her EYES.  Are they going to be blue like mine?"

Me: "Oh, well, we will just have to wait and see what color her eyes are."  WHEW.

We have had many conversations about how families can look different because there are several families at church who have adopted and we have friends who have all different skin tones in their family, but that one really took me by surprise!
